My River of Sorrow: A Widow’s Journey with God

A narrative of true love, sudden death, and authentic faith

by Kristina Lunde

This all-American story involves Lee, a golden California boy who becomes an Air Force fighter pilot, and Tina, a Midwestern girl turned Air Force nurse. Their lives are tragically interrupted when Lee, Tina’s husband and father of their two children, dies suddenly. Having adjusted to her father’s sudden death when she was eleven years old, Tina comes to realize that God has eerily prepared her for this worst-case scenario of widowhood. With friends, family, and church support, as well as much-needed antidepressants and therapy, this widow faces grief and battles hopelessness. Tina takes the pain straight to the throne of God and the Lord of heaven answers prayers, needs, and sorrow with His grace, provision, and humor. This account reads like a novel, but only God can orchestrate a real life story like this one.

God’s Comfort in Grief: Meditations for the Newly Widowed

Henry the Heron Teaches Me About Grief

by Kristina Lunde

In Henry the Heron Teaches Me About Grief, lively watercolors depict sweeping landscapes and flying herons. New to the neighborhood, a boy creates an imaginary friendship with a heron and learns about migration. After the death of his grandmother, the boy learns about grief and discovers a comforting metaphor in Henry’s migration. Poignant emotions expressed in Kristina Lunde’s rhymes are echoed in Abigail Porter’s illustrations of a child’s grief experience. Geared to children ages four through ten and the adults who help them process grief, this picture book presents concepts of death and heaven from a Bible-based perspective.

Bible on the Bluff is a video and workbook Bible study series that examines Old Testament examples of God’s communication. Reviewing Biblical examples of people with whom God spoke and interacted, this study discusses what God said, how He said it, what He showed people, and how they responded. The goal is to learn from these examples and relate them to our lives today. Each twelve lesson study examines sequential Old Testament books of the Bible:

  1. Hearing God’s Voice: Genesis – Deuteronomy
  2. Hearing God’s Voice: Joshua—2 Chronicles
  3. Hearing God’s Voice: Ezra—Song of Songs.
